I’m currently feeling quite raw & tender, like a newly bloomed flower on a crisp spring morning.. no coincidence, as you know I’m always banging on about how we reflect & find medicine in the seasons.
The past 6-8 weeks have been full of unpredictable & high pain levels, which have left me exhausted & feeling frustratingly behind, emotional & cognitively empty.
I’m sharing this because I want to let you know that after 36 years of RA, & 21 of those being predominantly a self-healer, I STILL can get disembodied, tense, frustrated, anxious, depressed, depleted, after long bouts of pain.
The old story of ‘just push through ‘till it’s over’ leads to this for me ... especially as I seem to have trouble NOT switching off from the work I love to do.. 😂🤷🏻♀️
But then the moment of ‘surrender’ happens.. your ego drops it’s guard & your body takes over.. You remember to practise presence, self love, true compassion.. your heart opens up again & your body can melt its tension .. You’re reminded of the medicine that works (for me, certain embodiment practices, herbs, supplements, meditation & energy work).. Alignment comes when we no longer resist.
This is why we call these processes a ‘practice’; we are invited into a deeper education with them as we walk the spiral path of healing.
We are reminded to create space for self nurture & self connection in our lives as a DAILY practise, to be infused in all things.
This looks so completely different for each of us.. One thing I know for sure, if we had it already mastered & perfected there would be no need for us to be inhabiting our earthly meat suits!
So I invite the process, I surrender to my body & my Higher Self. I let my tired heart tell me what it desires & I act on it all, as Sacred Self Devotion.

I am stunned at how fast this year has flown by.. I feel as if I've spent most of the year caught up in the churning breeze, my little feet grazing the surface of the path Im walking, as the weeks & months have zoomed along!
I haven't done all the things I thought I would have completed by now, but Ive had so many other surprises, unexpected turns and delightfully 'educational' detours, that I would say this year has been far more soul nourishing than the one before.

In honour of Virgo season, I’ve been looking at the areas of my life in which perfectionism may be holding me back.
We are all perfect beings, flaws ‘n all, but the pressure we can place on ourselves is in direct contrast to this truth.
It’s sooo easy to use an expectation of perfection from ourselves, as a form of self-sabotage. It keeps us playing small, or even from making a move in the first place.
I tend towards this when it comes to connecting on social media, promoting myself & my business.
Chronic pain from RA, which includes exhaustion & brain fog, can make me apprehensive to write. Communication usually flows through me so effortlessly, until the aforementioned brain fog kicks in 😂
I make so many typos & grammatical errors, sentence structure refuses to form in my mind.. the thought of even just trying to draw a few paragraphs out is exhausting in itself.. I would rather just take a nap!
I feel even more suffocated when I think that someone may read what I write, & how they might judge me, or not take what I say seriously.. rendering my enormous effort pointless.
P.s this is all ego stuff! Sabotage, inner critic gremlins, etc.
So, I’m trying something new..
I’m posting on social media, sending out newsletters, & dedicating myself to writing more in general, regardless of the seeming ‘perfection’.. regardless of what my friend Victoria @victorialynnfry calls ‘grammar misfits’.. regardless of brain fog (without sacrificing my health).. & regardless of what my ego decides to fear trip me on.
I wouldn’t put these expectations & judgements on a friend, so why the heckin’ am I doing this to myself!
Not to mention how judging people for their grammar is some major ableist, racist, classist nonsense that grinds my gears 🤷🏻♀️
I would love to know if you guys have similar patterns with perfectionism in your lives, & if you have any comments on this?

This is my favourite time of year!
Spring & Autumn, depending which hemisphere you reside, are the most potent expressions of Yin & Yang energy respectively, in nature.
The intense rising Yin energy from the earth, creates an unfurling, bursting display in the kingdom of flora.
It is also expressed in the psyches & activities of all animals, which we are no exception.
Increased energy, inspiration, creativity, desiring change, to be social, are more likely at this time.
As is more anxiety, frustration, & compulsive behaviour.
The pressing Yang energy of autumn, pushes the sap deep into tree roots for protection during the increasing frost. Everything turns its energy within.
Fauna prepare to hibernate, & we all bring in the harvest to survive the winter.
We sense growing stillness, calm, & quiet.
We can feel more withdrawn, depressed & a sense of grief.
Being that these seasons are the most extreme can mean our physical & emotional health can turn a tizzy.
There is a reason these seasons are the ones we are most likely to catch a virus!

One of my biggest passions with the work I do is to coach people into developing & trusting their intuition. This is such an incredible tool for everyone to find security, safety, strong boundaries, their zone of genius; all via the voice of their own innate wisdom.
I don’t need to spell out the necessity of this for those doing healing work.. So it comes as no surprise to me that my ability to listen to, trust & act on my *own* intuition is always being prodded, pushed, evolved, so I can teach this even more profoundly.
Anytime I squash down that inner knowing for a choice that seems easier, more what I ‘should’ do, or if I listen to other people’s opinions above my own, I’m faced with complications & the need to backtrack.
Sometimes the consequences are small, sometimes they are big.
However, this doesn’t mean I feel anything I’ve ever decided to act on is ‘wrong’. I don’t believe there is such a thing as ‘making the wrong decision’. I DO think everything happens for a reason.
We are constantly faced with opportunities to refine & strengthen our relationship with ourselves, including our devotion to our intuition/Higher Self/whatever.
The more I remind myself that my intuition is a Queen that cannot be denied, (no matter how uncomfortable that may seem in the moment) the more fulfilled, authentic & joyous my life, relationships & business.
It might not always be ‘easy’ to make choices from this space; those uncomfortable moments of contrast & friction are what our souls crave for growth. But the peace we find in trusting the process is incomparable.
