On the new moon in Capricorn this month past, my friend Bec B and I decided to launch an Instagram challenge on sharing the vulnerable & celebratory, true stories of our bodies. It was a bit of a last-minute thing, born from a conversation the two of us were having about out own past & … Continue reading Body Love IG Challenge

Since I had a slow posting year for 2018 & have quite a few new followers, I thought I would give a lil fresh intro of myself *throws glitter* ✨✨🌟✨✨ It me, Sami Lou; the creatrix maven behind The Holistic Branch. I’m a naturopath, a witch, an intuitive guide, & an open hearted traveler of the healing spiral path. 🌀🌀🌀 I desire to see a world where everyone can see the beauty in their individuality & their healing path, not as something to be ‘fixed’ or suppressed, but as an integral part of their expansion, life experience & purpose. 👑👑👑 My own lifelong journey into healing myself with rheumatoid arthritis, is what set a fire in my soul to hold space for others who felt as lost, in pain & rejected as I once did. 🦋🦋🦋 Cultivating & following my own intuitive guidance toward healing has been my biggest saviour. It has never set me wrong, has helped me find the people I needed to assist me at the right times, & to understand what works or doesn’t work for my body. 🔥🔥🔥 The foundation of what I teach & share, is for us all to come back to our intuition; our sacred inner guidance that knows exactly what we need. Cutting away the conditioning, so we can remember our own innate knowledge. I’m so glad you’re here, nothing pleases me more than to witness a gathering of like minds, sharing their paths together! Much love 💖💖💖💖
I love that Self-Care is becoming a widely spoken about topic. It’s the preliminary to self-love, healing, & the self-worthiness to pursue those things. However, a recent convo with my sister made me realise we aren’t talking about a certain side of it enough... Sometimes, we can use a ‘self-care routine’ as another way to apply restrictive, obsessive actions into our lives, igniting our inner-critic. When we don’t get our routine completed in a day, we can then feel like a failure, decreasing ‘worthiness’. This can mean we are actually stepping into the realms of self-harm; another failed thing to berate ourselves about.. completely the opposite of what a self care practise is meant to do for us! If you do struggle with this, there is a way through; & it starts with saying ‘FUQ IT.. I love myself enough to say ‘no’ to pressure, to obligation that doesn’t support my highest good, & to feeling like shit about myself’. You can’t generate the neuro-pathway healing etc that selfcare is meant to program if you’re not enjoying it, your inner critic is raving, or have made a ‘routine’ so extensive that you’re too overwhelmed to start! My approach is to make lists of *rituals* or practices (I feel like these words are kinder & less pressure vibe’d than routine) that I can dip into, which will support where I’m at physically, mentally & emotionally each day, without depleting me. For eg, the practises I do first thing in the am, look different to what I do before bed, or throughout my day. And I’ll only do what I know is manageable. I also have a few sequence rituals that I know will support me holistically on ‘bad days’ when I need extra healing TLC. I have my lists for the moon phases & my menstrual phases. These lists allow me to easily see what I may need & choose accordingly. It also means I’m not doing the same routines everyday, which would drive me bonkers! Much of what is on the lists doubles up, so one practise may correspond to me being premenstrual, the waning moon, & soothing me with deep rest.. time friendly! After a while of being able to create a daily practise, depending on your needs, it becomes much more of an intuitive process as you help to

This years theme for me was ‘trust’. Remembering & strengthening the trust I have for myself, my own body, my ability to heal myself, my intuition, & all the rest! I had become caught up over the past few years with my work & establishing myself online; it happens, I love the work I do. When you have a chronic degenerative autoimmune illness, to live well means you have no choice but to put yourself first. This actually goes for everyone regardless, but more on that later.. Last year I realised I had calcification forming in a few of my joints, my core was weak, my physical alignment was off & I was experiencing a flare now & then.. rare for me! Taking this year to step back a little from my online presence was so necessary in order to invest that time & energy into this ‘remembrance session’ of what I already knew & had walked through many times.. prioritising self/inner trust. It also meant more pain for a while as my body broke down the calcification, as it pulled itself into a more useful alignment & better gait to balance out the freer moving joints, it meant a lot of rest to compensate that effort. I trialed whole hemp oil for a few months, twice over the year, but it seems that doesn’t agree with me & threw me off track. I’m still allowing my body the space to unravel the effects of it. It’s been a year of up & down, & back & forth.. but isn’t this the flow of every year one way or another? We expand, we contract.. we exert, we rest. The cycle, the spiral, the duality an’ all that Jazz. Remembering that we have all the answers & guidance within us is a powerful dawning. Trusting our own bodies experiences, leaning into the pain, whether that’s physical, emotional or mental, is the way through. What did you guys breakthrough this year? All my love, Sami Lou 💖💖
Happy #halloween #Samhain or #Beltane depending what side of the hemisphere you reside on this planet! 🎃🦇🎃 The veil is thin on both occasions. Spending most of my life in Australia, as a practicing #witch ,after living most of my childhood in the UK, has really opened my eyes to how opposite ends of the Wheel of the Year are more alike than different. At Samhain we move towards winter death, and at Beltane we know the abundance of summer is on its way.. but life and death both hold the promise of each other within. 🥀🥀 This perception of cyclic endurance (energy immortality) may be why this time of year is my favourite, or maybe it’s just coz my birthday is coming up 😉 One of the major themes working with my clients this year, was their desire to create more ritual in their lives. There are many reasons we crave ritual; comfort, peace, to strengthen the connection to ourselves. It has been such an honour to help my peeps realise this in their lives. 💖 I’m thinking to look into creating mini masterclasses on seasonal / #woty rituals to share with you.. would that be something you guys would be interested in? I would love to know! Mega spooky Halloween love to you 🖤🦇🖤🎃👻
